The Oats Masala Chaas or Spicy Oats Buttermilk is a healthy summer drink with the goodness of oats.

Oats Masala Chaas 1

Chaas aka Indian Buttermilk!

Chaas is a common yogurt aka dahi based drink in Indian households. It is the ideal summer drink made with yogurt, water, and some spices. It is not only light and refreshing but also good for health. Generally, this diluted yogurt is served along with the meal.
The good bacteria of curd help in improving the general immunity of our body and reduce the stomach ailments like irritable bowel, stomach infections, irregular bowel movements.

What is the difference between chaas and lassi?

Both lassi and chaas are made with curd.
Chaas has a thin watery consistency whereas lassi has a thick, creamy, luscious texture like a milkshake.
Lassi can be both sweet or salty but chaas (buttermilk) is always savory only.

What is Oats Masala Chaas ?

Yeah, heard right! The humble chaas has a touch of oats here. Oat-based food products such as bread, biscuits, cookies, breakfast cereals, flakes, and infant food are gaining popularity due to their high nutritional value. So why not add to our drink!

Well, this masala chaas becomes so filling and nutritious drink by adding oats in it. I have used the Quaker brand’s oats.

Steps to make this Oats Masala Chaas –

First, dry roast the oats till just warm. Allow to cool and make a fine powder.
Now blend everything except water and ice cubes using a hand blender or in a blender jar. Add water and stir well.
Pour into serving glass. Add some ice cubes and sprinkle some roasted cumin powder. And then the oats masala chaas is ready!

There is nothing complicated about this recipe and I have posted a quick video on my Insta Page. You can refer to that, for a quick understanding.

This spiced buttermilk is the perfect way to cool off during hot days.
