Poha Ladoo with Chocolaty Coconut filling

Poha ladoo with chocolaty coconut stuffing !! sounds interesting, isn’t it ? Chocolate, all time favorite of kids along with coconut stuffed inside the ladoo is a superb snack for kids. Here I have used the white poha, but you can use the red ones which are rich in iron. These ladoos are easy to make, you can even make it during festivals. Dry fruits (cashews, raisins) which I have used, can be omitted / any other dry fruits can be added.

Preparation Time : 10 mins      |      Cooking Time : 20 mins

Ingredients :

Ingredients

Measurements

Poha / aval / rice flakes / beaten rice (white / red)

1.5 cup

Sugar / grated jaggery

3/4 cup

Cardamom pod

4 no.

Coconut (grated)

4 tbsp

Chocolate chips

3 tbsp

Ghee

¼ cup

Cashews

10 no.

Raisins

10 no.

Method :

  1. Heat a heavy bottom pan. Dry roast poha / aval till crunchy.
  2. Cool completely. Mean while crush the cardamom pods.
  3. Grind the crunchy poha, cushed cardamom and sugar in a blender very well. Try to make a fine powder and transfer to a plate.
  4. The next step is to prepare the stuffing. Put coconut in a pan and cook until dry. Lastly add chocolate chips. Switch off the heat and keep aside.
  5. Then heat ghee, fry roughly chopped cashews and raisins. Add ghee along with fried cashews and raisins to the ground poha powder.
  6. Knead everything. If needed use more ghee for well binding.
  7. Take a tiny ball size portion of coconut and chocolate chips mixture. Cover it with poha mixture all around and give a ladoo shape.
  8. Serve these poha ladoos with chocolaty coconut stuffing / store them in an air tight container.

Notes :

  • Try to make fine powder of the poha. If the powder is coarse then while making ladoos, they may break quickly. So be careful.
  • These ladoos can be kept for 4-5 days.
  • Cardamom is must needed for lending a divine flavor to the ladoo.
